Dr. Woolsey has advised more than fifty undergraduate research assistants, typically on applied research topics involving control of mechanical systems. Example applications include benchtop mechanical control systems such as a variable speed control moment gyroscope and a spinning planar pendulum as well as autonomous vehicles, such as UAVs, USVs, and UUVs.
In addition to advising undergraduate research assistants, Dr. Woolsey is also a co-advisor, together with Dr. Dan Stilwell (ECE), to Virginia Tech's AUV Team, a perennial competitor in AUVSI's annual AUV Competition.
If you are interested in undergraduate research opportunities within Dr. Woolsey's program, please send a cover letter and a one-page resume to cwoolsey@vt.edu. Be sure to indicate your specific research interests in your cover letter.
